Description
Illustrated by Sarah Selby

Josie the Cat has a special relationship with a monastery. She is the Abbot's cat. Visit with Josie as she gives 3 young children a special visit in a monastery. Josie tells the reader of the family's visit to the Abbot's cell, watching monk's garden and sew, and taking part in an all-night vigil. Of course, Josie doesn't pray all night...she is busy chasing mice. This delightful book ends with a Feast Day in the Church, when monks, nuns and pilgrims all gather in joy to celebrate. Children of all ages will love this book, and will be a little more familiar with monasteries, a very important part of Orthodox Christianity for all age groups.

About the Author
Sarah Elizabeth Cowie's fiction, non-fiction, and poetry have appeared in such magazines as Christianity Today, Messenger of St. Anthony, The Orthodox Word and The Handmaiden. She has three other books: Saint Innocent of Alska: Apostle and Missionary (Conciliar Press), a chapter book of poetry called Season of Hope published by Noetic Press, and More Spirited Than Lions: An Orthodox Response to Feminism and a Practical Guide to the Spiritual Life of Women, published by Regina Orthodox Press.

About the Illustrator
Sarah Stockton Selby was born an animal lover. She graduated from Kirkland (now Hamilton) College in 1975 with a double major in biology and art. Realizing that it was more important to be a Christian than an animal artist, she started on a path that led her to the Orthodox Church. She has studied some iconography with Vladislav Andrejev and is a reader at Saints Sergius and Herman Orthodox Church in Syracuse, NY. Sarah and her husband Philip, along with a menagerie of animals, live on a farm in Central New York.
